About The Electives:
Last October, we sent out a survey to AMS students and alumni, asking you to let us know what keeps you awake at night. Based on the outcome of the survey, the plan was to set up a program for the AMS executive electives, scheduled for January 8th, 2021.
Unfortunately, the current situation still prevents us from organizing any on-site activities. Therefore, we have decided to adapt the format of the electives into a virtual event. Based on the topics you indicated in the survey, we have selected several inspiring speakers, who will host a series of intriguing webinars. We hope to invite you again for our real-life electives in Summer.
New Format: The 2021 Executive electives will take place online on the following dates and at 11:30 - 13:30.
- 19 January 2021: Deep Fakes by Nina Schick;
- 16 February 2021: M-Kopa Or how to develop new successful business models by Prof. Jamie Anderson;
- 16 March 2021: Organizing the government as a lean start-up in crisis
by Former Minister Philippe De Backer; - 20 April 2021: Innovating the labor organization, a retail case by Herman Van de Velde;
- 18 May 2021: How to beat Big Tech: Lessons from Russia by Andrei Povarov.
Registrations for the other webinars in this series will open closer to the event date. So check the AMS website for updates.

What is Deepfakes?
It is a type of ‘synthetic’ or fake media, wholly or partially generated by AI - are the latest evolving threat. Machines can be trained to create fake media of people doing and saying things they never did or said. When everything can be faked…anything can be denied. The fabric of reality is being corroded.

About the Keynote
NINA SCHICK is an author and broadcaster, specialising in how technology and artificial intelligence are reshaping society.
Over the last decade, Nina has cultivated her expertise in geopolitics and emerging technology. She has worked on the frontline of major global events including Brexit; the EU’s migrant crisis; election interference; and on the evolution of disinformation and information warfare.
Nina has advised a group of global leaders including Joe Biden, the former Vice President of the United States, and Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former Secretary General of NATO, on deepfakes.
Nina’s book, ‘DEEPFAKES’, exploring the corrosion of our information ecosystem, is out now.
