AMS is making its global mission very explicit. For many years, Antwerp Management School has maintained good relations with China and has also organized many activities there. Several such activities are scheduled for this week. Right now, we are part of a trade mission with Seoul and Shanghai between the 10^th and 17^th of December. Together with mayor Bart De Wever, our Dean Paul Matthyssens signed The Memory of Understanding with Donghua University. They also visited the Yangtze River Delta City Project, of which AMS is the only foreign partner.

Cross Cultural Negotiation

Prof. Dr. Bart Cambré brought our PhD students and EMBA Director Peter Rafferty was accompanied by his European and Russian EMBA students. Bart Cambré: “I taught about Organization Theory and about Research Methodology. A good doctorate has a decent theoretical foundation and demands empirical research, which also causes the methodology to be important.” Together they learned about Cross Cultural Negotiation, they engaged in role playing and visited several companies.

Donghua University

On December 16, we organize an event in Shanghai with our partner, Donghua University. During this mission, we invite the Antwerp delegation to a new part of Shanghai – Nanxiang town – a district in which tradition merges with creative economy and technology. This will be the setting for a ceremonial inauguration of our agreement with the Donghua University. Our colleague Dorinela Munteanu will add to the international development through further cooperation around Executive Development Programs. Furthermore, she will visit ‘Silicon Valley’ in Zhongguancun.

Internationale partners

We opt for partnerships with schools who share our set of values. We have quite a few partnerships with universities and management schools in Europe, Asia and the United States. Students enrolled at those schools and universities can follow a full-time master program at AMS. Although students can also enroll directly with us, the collaboration with their alma mater offers certain advantages. One of the main advantages is the fact that we work with our partners to coach students with regard to job opportunities and prepare them for the remainder of their career. One of those long-standing partnerships is the one with the International Business School in Moscow. We organize an EMBA program for Russian executives.

Shanghai, Guangzhou en Hangzhou

In China we also have several important partnerships in three major east coast cities: Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou. In Shanghai we work with Shanghai Finance University, where we cater to top financial professionals and leaders. In Guangzhou we have partnered up with the leading school in the south of China, Lignan College of the Sunvatsen University – for our executive PhD.

Antwerp Management School ranks 29^th worldwide for its Master in Global Management and is number 1 in Belgium. For a school our size, this is a real feat. Many potential partners wonder how we have managed to do so. Our global activities have a strong link with our curriculum. During the recent trade mission our dean and the mayor have also met Astrid Philippron, Key Account Manager at Cisco and alumna of our Master of Global Management. In short, our overall mission is binding in all respects.
