Edwin van Hassel is senior researcher at the Department of Transport and Regional Economics (TPR) at the University of Antwerp, where he is also teaching three courses. He has an engineering degree in Naval Architecture, and he has a PhD in Applied Economics.
At Antwerp Management School he teaches in the Master in Maritime and Air Transport Management.
His main research interests and expertise lie with inland navigation, port hinterland transport, ship design, and transport modelling. He holds a PhD in the field of inland waterway transport. More recently, the scope of his work has been extended to maritime cost chain modelling. He is also involved in several research projects, ranging from logistics projects and infrastructure cost-benefit analysis to transport modelling projects.
