LEARNING OUTCOMES EXECUTIVE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (EMBA)

1. Dublin Descriptors – Learning Goals (D)

The level defined in the learning goals (D) meets the standards of the general, internationally accepted descriptions of the qualifications of an academic Master. These are outlined in the Dublin Descriptors. For the Executive Master of Business Administration these are specified below.

D1. Knowledge and understanding

The EMBA program aims to provide our participants with classic and current, business economic frameworks, solid concepts and alternative models in their business thinking, in order to both broaden and deepen their fundamental knowledge of each of the composing parts of the value creation chain. This major learning goal is in congruence with the core of the Antwerp Management School mission and value proposition.

D2. Applying knowledge and understanding

Building on the principle of “Hindsight-Insight-Foresight”, we systematically feed and integrate this intellectual process with a continuous process of reflection, dialogue and debate.

D3. Making judgements

From the start, participants are challenged to bring in their own opinion and participate fully in class discussions. Throughout the courses and the final business project, participants are asked to formulate concrete personal and/or team conclusions and to translate these into specific business recommendations.

D4. Communication

The underlying and greatly integrated learning & development process, aimed at questioning and strengthening the individual behind the participant/professional, exploring the leadership talents and ambitions, reflecting on the career and future business vision, discovering hidden talents and competencies, working on creating high performance teams. D5. Learning skills

Since we strongly believe in ‘frontiers of knowledge’ (deepen and broaden foundation of business economics and management) and ‘project-based learning’ critically apply to own business context and individual competencies), during the past two years Antwerp Management School has seriously invested in the support of dedicated International and Business rooted facilitators and coaches. 2. Learning Objectives (L)

The philosophy behind the EMBA supports the following set of learning objectives (L) and qualifications:

L 1. During the program, participants will develop the helicopter view of the business; develop a viewpoint of a senior manager: how to manage people, teams and units beyond functional (or regional/business) specialization and how to allocate the resources of the company to create sustainable value ( manage talent & finance resources)

L 2. Graduates will be able to transfer senior management level understanding of the functions of the business and to offer advanced insights into excellence in management of organizations, including insights on integration and interrelationships between functional areas.

L 3. The program is aimed to also ensure participants gain a detailed understanding of sources and uses of data and management tools in decision making at all levels of activity. To help them develop analytical skills (including functional expertise) and the ability to make strategic decisions; show that problem formulation and problem solving are rooted in the needs and perspectives of the company and in a deep understanding of the interrelationship between a company and its environment.

L 4. The ability to develop critical self-understanding, leadership and interpersonal improvement review techniques in an international multicultural context. To focus on personal development and on stimulating an international mindset in order to increase managerial effectiveness.

L 5. The program encourages an ethical, professional, managerial, international and entrepreneurial attitude.
